The two Holden Monaro 427 engined race cars are racing in the Bathurst 24 Hr race this weekend 21-23 November 2003.

(The 427 car won the inaugral 24 hr race last year.)

And the race engines are nobbled to provide parity.

Yeah monaro 1 and 2
Great race......with seven minutes left both 05 and 427 cars driven by murphy and tander were within secounds of each other. When Garry rogers (team owner) radioed both cars to wait for their last instruction in the seventh last minute of the 24hr race, all three commentators thought that this would be for a typical formation finish. However Garry told the team over the radio that both drivers should race for the finish (i.e. no formation). Both cars were let off the hook and posted their fastest laps within the seven minutes, running side by side and inches from each others bumpers.

Truely this was the closest and best 24hr I have seen....two excellent drivers (murph = 2003 bathurst 1000 winner with the 2.6min flying lap and tander =2002 bathurst 24hr winner and former 1000 winner), from the same team, within seconds for 24hr and within a second for the closing of the race.

racetime (05, 427)
24:00:28.4768 ,24:00:28.8273
fastest lap (05, 427)
2:14.4975 , 2:14.4894

Sounds like a great race. Too bad all we'll get here is probably a one hour review on speed - I would love to have the whole thing on tape to watch from the sounds of it.

Thanks for the update.
