Pontiac intends to advertise the 2004 GTO well beyond what is necessary to move the 18,000 performance coupes GM will sell this year. "Given such small volume, we could get away with small advertising, but this car is a rallying point for the brand," said Pontiac-GMC manager Lynn Myers. The GTO will arrive in dealership within a few weeks. Hundreds have arrived at the ports from Australia and are being pored over by GM quality control inspectors. Dealers have already taken orders for about 1600. GTO teaser ads have run during Monday Night Football, and actual products ads will run frequently during NCAA college football bowl games. -Jim Burt, TCC'S DAILY EDITION: Nov. 21, 2003
