: 2005 GTO Rendering
davis181 11-27-2003, 09:40 PM This sketch shows what Performance West Group has suggested to Pontiac management for the 2005 Pontiac GTO. PWG calls it "The Tiger King." The following enhancements, it says, infuse this vehicle with character from the Pontiac gene pool:
• 1968 GTO-inspired twin nostril hood flanking classic Pontiac "ironing board" raised center
• "Tiger Gold Pearl" House of Kolor paint
• 18-in. "Tribute" wheels by Oasis inspired by original Hurst wheels
• Stainless steel 3-piston "Tri Power" calipers and 14-in. slotted rotors
• Kenne Bell supercharged 5.7-liter V8 engine
• Hurst Competition Plus shifter for 6-speed manual transmission
• Exhaust splitters by Year One
• "Off the shoulder" roll-and-pleated leather parchment interior by Katzkin

Madelinot 11-27-2003, 09:48 PM From that angle, the back end looks like a G35 coupe.
Nocturn 11-28-2003, 01:14 AM Whats with all the new RX8 grills in newer cars, the C6 picture had a similar one, and this sketch does also.
edge929 11-28-2003, 08:05 AM For once I like the hood scoops at of all the pictures I've seen. Definitely gives it a muscle car look and hopefully they'll be functional too. I like the small changes with the front grill, but I'm wondering how accurate they will be on the actual car.
I liked the concept sketch of the 04 GTO, but the actual car didn't portray the sketch as well - like most concept vehciles anyway.
Nocturn 11-28-2003, 04:14 PM Why do they need to be functional, if they were they would give no performance gains, and the working of the air piping would be rediculously un effeciant.

uuuhhhh... why couldnt it just work like a camaro ss hood?
there are acctually air ducts in the hood, the air wraps around to the front and then is dumped out right infront of the air box
COOL GTO 11-28-2003, 05:22 PM The Hood Scoops would be best if used as "heat extractors"...pulling hot air out of the engine bay...Best CAI would be isolated from engine heat...I would say a bored out Throttle Body in conjunction with a GOOD CAI could yield 10,12 maybe up to 15 HP to the rear wheels...what I do not get is this: I thought the "GM Team" made all these "great improvements" to bring the HP from 302 to 350...Have you seen the STOCK AIR BOX??? I have heard that the "bend" of stock air tube would be like 20/30 Feet of straight flow...meaning the air...having to bend like pictured...would be like a 20/30 ft straight tube air intake...this really leads me to believe a GOOD CAI should be the first mod to do on the 2004 GTO...good gains to be had right off the bat...C GTO
Nocturn 11-28-2003, 07:23 PM The intake piping is the same as it is on the monaro, they didnt change that. And there isn't enough room from the radiator shroud to the engine to allow for a ram air system like the firebirds. The only way to do it would be like the SS hood, but that hood gets very little air to the engine, and even at higher speeds it isn't enough preassure to creat any gain in performance. So it would be best used at heat exractors.
Davbo 11-28-2003, 07:24 PM The picture is new, the story is old.
Commissar 11-28-2003, 07:40 PM it looks like the sunfire engineers got put in charge of updating the GTO's front end. They killed the grill, the hood looks terrible and the bumper looks better without the crease in the middle. I will be going after an '04 if this is the direction pontiac is going.
Can anyone post more pics, I do not feel like signing up to gminsidenews.
davis181 11-28-2003, 07:53 PM I found the correct story that goes with the picture re-edited above...
newjudge 12-09-2003, 01:40 AM wow......................................
1966_GTO_ 12-09-2003, 02:41 PM I like the hood scoops but the rib that runs down the center of the hood in front of them is too large. Looks out of place. And it seems that they pointed off some corners and made the hole nose come to a slight point. Doesn't look right on this particular design. And it almost looks like a hatchback, almost no deck lid. I hope they don't shorten the trunk like it looks here. Possibly improved from the 2004 sketch, but nothing to brag about.
