hey guys. im new, and i just wanted to know if more of the site's members like the new GTO's or the old ones ( i like the old ones ). and for anyone who actualy has a 67, prefferable with the 400HO, i know its a dumb question but, is it worth it?

Since this is an LS1 site I think you will find most people will like the new like myself. As for the old ones I like the '66. I will like the new one for daily driving. If I had a '66 I would save it for weekends.

I think everyone here has a special place in thier hearts for the old ones....however is also willing enough to embrace change to like the new ones.

'69 judge is my dream car, but I will take a new one as I do not have much experience with cars (yet). Hopefully eventually I will have enough money and time to buy an old goat and nurture her back to life!! But until that day comes I can pick up a new one and drive it care free, under warranty, and still tell people I drive a badass GTO!!!

cool so its a nice even mix. when i first heard about the new gto i thought they were an embaressement to the name, but then i looked into em and think they are anything but . ( but id still take a beat old 67 400 and fix it up) :P :D

I love them both. I'm still trying to figure out why I sold my 67 GTO hardtop about 2 years ago. :flush:

Nice thing about older GTO's thier not too hard to find. I'll be getting another 66 or 67 this summer. Probably a 67, it is by far my favorite GTO of them all and that includes the 04.

I dunno after all the bitching and maoning form the old school owners as someone who lives where the Monaro comes from I wonder weather the Monaro the vehicle with a fairly good and contiuning production car racing hertigate. Really deserves to be saddled with the name plate of a vehicle that has been known for some fairly mediocre striaght line traffic light drags. Its good to see a site that isn't maoning it doesn't look like the old one. For a bit of research look up the HG,HK,HT,HQ Monaro and see weather it looks like the current one. Other than its a two door version of the current sedan there is very little to link it.

Yeah, sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't have been better if they had just called it a Pontiac Monaro. Okay, not really. :P

To me, as an old f**t, nothing can replace the looks of the original GTO. My dream car would be an old GTO, maybe a '67, built TODAY with current technology and materials. And a carburetor! FI is wonderful but nothing can replace the jolt of power that came when you nailed it and the secondaries opened up. Today its smooth, almost seamless. Almost bland - but not quite. ;)

To me the old monaros look similar to the old GTO, but smaller

I am fortunate to be the owner of my dream car, 67 GTO. My favorite because of several features like the mesh grill, stacked headlights, fade away tail lights, and lots of chrome. My wife and I both love the looks of the 04 GTO, but would probably buy something else if I did not have the 67.

I have owned 3 66's and a 68. I still have one 66 that is undergoing restoration now. Would I love to own a new one? Yup. Will eventually? Yup.
