: How a monaro becomes a HSv GTO/GTS
http://www.hsv.com.au/cars/vx2/coupe/production/
Nice pictorial tour etc of how a monaro is turned into a hsv gto/gts Perhaps SLP or GMNA will start off with a similar core vehicle system?
Tails 12-12-2003, 09:20 AM That is very cool!!!
:laughbounce: :laughbounce: :laughbounce: :laughbounce:
chotton 12-12-2003, 05:24 PM HSV is a very cool facility. I got to take a privater tour of their race shops (Holden Racing Team) and the vehicle conversion factory when I was in Melbourne back in '97. They have everything you could imagine there, from design and engineering facilities to engine dynos.
boostmiser 12-15-2003, 03:06 PM I wonder if we can order theat guage package, wheels etc from them to put on the American GTO?
OnTheFence 12-17-2003, 07:57 AM Very cool ! GM needs to bring the SS Commodore or ClubSport R8 here also!
Would be nice of GM to bring in the UTE's too... IMO they're awesome. V8 powa rocks! Just change the tires to some nice Centerlines, dual exhaust, some chrome somewhere in the back...mmm.
Can't get enuf of em when I was vacationin in OZ. Was fortunate to be able to take pics of some. I bet people were saying, "crazy tourist, taking pictures of parked cars" HAHAHA :D
I hope the rumors are right... El Camino Coming Soon!

93RedLightning 07-30-2004, 03:37 PM i dont think utes would sell here well, i would think they would b/c of our love for pickups, you could think that some ppl would like them then for there cross between a car and truck, but that suburu(sp?) really proves that they dont sell here well.
Nocturn 07-30-2004, 03:55 PM I wouldn't say that, the El camnio was made for years before it was killed off. The Subaru didnt sell because it didnt look good (IMO) and didn't have good power or a standard tranny....I think.
gto_in_nc 07-30-2004, 04:01 PM And don't forget that Subaru sold about a bazillion BRATs to people in snowy or mountainous regions, too. (or maybe it just seemed that way at the time...)
forestdweller 07-30-2004, 08:22 PM Whats the difference between a Ute and the current Chevy SSR?
digitalgod 07-30-2004, 11:50 PM The major difference is the ute could sell her for half the price of the SSR.
jbernie 07-31-2004, 12:44 PM The major difference is the ute could sell her for half the price of the SSR.
That and the fact that you can arry up to 1 tonne on the utes on a vehicle that can give car like fuel efficiency. If nothing else GM and Ford USA should look at getting the Aussie utes over here to make a difference in their fuel economy ratings :)
The Subaru crossover sucked because you have basically no space for a payload, not much capacity weight wise and it seems to have been based on a me too attitude. The small engine etc etc doesn't help either.
