I removed the rear spoiler today and I really like the look. I have a two part question for those that have already done this:

(1) Did you find temporary plugs while waiting for a permanent fix? If so where did you get them?

(2) What did you pay for filling and painting the holes?

The Pontiac body shop quoted me $745.00 which sounds high to me. For that kind of money you would think you could order a new trunk from Holden without the holes.

I also found the relay breaker for the Daylight Running Lamps and pulled that out. The rest of the lighting system works just fine without them.

did you PM me a little while back? I got a PM like this but I accidentally hit the delete button when I droppec my mouse.

i did it about 3 days after i bought the car.

i just went out to the local auto store and bought some 3/8" nylon body plugs with a flat top.

they should fit very well with the 4 mounting holes (i used steel guage wire to jury-rig a holding, tight fit because just pressing the plugs through left some play)

as for the rear light hole, i used another 3/8" plug but wrapped it with electrical tape until it was a sized and secure fit with the oval hole. i added a bead of silicon culk to the plug and i just squeezed the SOB in there. the fit seems snug, and i haven't noticed any water leakage into the decklid or trunk...so as far as i know its doing its job.

i plan on making the final decision regarding the wing in the springtime...put it back on, keep it n00d and finish it, or finish it and add a lower profile lip spoiler.

Was spoiler-less until today. H ad to put it back on when one of the cap-plugs came out. Need to get a few more. Actually, I had gotten the wrong ones. I got 3/8's when I should've gotten 3/8-3's as written in another thread. My fault for being impatient.

I put my spoiler back on today as well. I really like the look without it but the cheapest repair and paint job at a good body shop was $419.00 but that required me to remove the trunk lid, then remove the lower panel around the license plate, and remove the electrical equipment so it would not be damaged when they weld in new back plates. They also wanted me to remove the Pontiac emblem so it could be a complete repaint. of the lid.

Perhaps in the future Pontiac will make the spoiler a delete option like the hood scoops.

I took my wing off and got the holes filled , I complained enough to the dealer about the factory paintjob being so thin so they repainted the whole car and took the wing off at no charge car looks great now
what do you guys think
I asked the bodyshop how would they charge to other GTO owners and he said 415 the holes filled and paint blended into the 1/4's

That looks soooooooooooo good. I've decide to bite the bullet and do the same as soon as we get better weather. I've also been thinking about removing the side GTO badges and installing the Holden side marker lamps.

I bought a second trunk lid and had it painted.

$248.50 plus shipping from GM parts direct. Still had to fill the holes and have it painted.

Wheres the realy for the drl's?

On the 2005, remove the cover for the fuse box under the hood and on the inside of the lid is a diagram showing which one it is. It is one of the large ones, looks more like a relay than a standard fuse. It just pulls straight up with small pliers.

I wonder if it would be possible to order a Monaro decklid? They don't have the holes so that would save the welding at least.

I checked. The shipping and packaging cost from Australia was about $300, more than it costs to have the holes filled.
