intake question

I have looked through old posts but didnt really find anything. I just installed an kn filter charger and it is making a really strange whistling. sqeaking noise when i go on and off the gas. Almost to the point that if i pump the gas it sounds like a scene from starwars. I checked all the conections and they are all good. Anyone else have this problem. Also you dont really notice it if the hood is open and the car is in neutral. And to add insalt to injury the same night i installed one on my dads 300 srt8 and it sounds sweet like an intake should sound. ****

You maybe never noticed before and I dont know if this is it or not but the gto whistles until its warmed up regardless of what type of induction is used . I run the k&n cai . I never noticed a whistle till someone here was talking about it and i noticed it at that point. The whistle maybe more noticable with the more open CAis like the k&n which dont go into a box.
this doesnt bother me I didnt buy a cai for the sound .I never even thought about the sound of my intake. exhaust yes intake no.lol

I agree with gto_n_442. With the K&N Air Charger CAI installed on my '05 GTO, I get a slight whistle until the engine operating temperature is up. Afterwards all I hear is air being sucked in. The way I figure it, that is a good thing.

I havent noticed the cool temp whistle but the one i have now is not temp related. I could drive my car for an hr and the noise would be there the whole time. It is not a whistle at idle it is more when i am into it about half throtle between 2-4k rpms. Plus it is really noticable unless the windows are open and the radio is cranked way up, so its not something someone else would point out unless you are hard of hearing. I emailed k&N and didnt get a reply yet. I didnt by the intake for the sound its just i know what they should sound like because i installed like 6 in the past couple of years.. The only thing i can think of is that the filter is sucking soo hard that it is pulling in air through a small hole which inturn makes the noise. Compared to the srt8 there is like no clear path for the air to get to the filter. Again any help would be appretiated.

Mine has never whistled. And if it DID, I wouldn't care. It doesn't whistle under WOT, so who cares? LMFAO!
