Thinking of buying and could use some advice

Hello Everyone,

I am thinking of buying a 2004 phantom black on black and I was hoping you guys could give me some feedback. The car only has 35,000 miles and right now the price is $14,994. The only major things that I can tell that are wrong with it so far are that it needs new tires, the steering wheel sits just off center, there is steering wheel vibration when braking, and I heard what I think was a sort of thunk from the front end once. There are some minor issues with the interior: lining on doors coming off, rear window tint bubbling a bit, the leather on the top rear of the back seats is a little hard and dry.

Other than those issues, the car seems tip top. The dealer has promised to fix whatever is going on with the front end, but, so far, has not offered to put new tires on it. I was thinking of asking for new tires and buying the goat. What do you think? Also, what do you guys think about the price? Thanks for all of you help.

Something I forgot to add... The Carfax report is clean as a whistle. No wrecks or major work, but it has had three owners. I wonder why it has had three owners and only 35,000 miles? That could be nothing, but it makes me wonder.

If you have the VIN, go to this site and request a GMVIS report. It will give you the cars history through GM which is more telling than the Carfax. You may have to join to get this done but it's worth it. http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthr...GMVIS&page=121

Thanks for the help HP11

I did not use the ls1 site you suggested, but the car checked out great. Today I bought the goat. They promised to split the cost of the new tires with me. I have only had the car for a few hours, but I understand why you guys love them so much.

Saw one in a parking lot about a month ago and think that I decided that I had to have one on the spot. Luckily, the one I bought just went on the lot at my local GM dealer about a week before I cruised through. Now it is in my driveway.

I traded in a Jaguar X-Type Sport. The jag had a lot more comfort features and refinement, but overall, in my opinion, the goat is a lot more car for the money and not that much less comfortable. Not to mention that I am not worried about spending $3k or driving two hours to the nearest dealership if something goes wrong with the goat.

Thanks again!
