Parking Brake broke?

Anyone have the parking brake ratcheting mechanism break...when I pull up on the handle to engage the brake...theres no clicking from the handle and it just falls back into the console...I think I pulled her too much drifting...is this possible have you heard of the ratchet mech breaking before...or did I do something to the brakes them selves?
