Who here is running a Volant Intake?
I have it, and I always get compliments. I also like that the full airbox keeps the filter clean in the hot air away from the filter. I know you will never gain a lot by a CAI..but it is still nice to have one.

I was wondering if the volant cold air intake actually works. The only reason why i would never use any other "cold air intakes" is because all they do is suck in heat. This intake seems to be the real deal, has anyone seen any hp gains, or acceleration gains from the intake. If so please let me know because this may be right up my alley.

I would like to see a test on just how much hot air does get sucked up at idle yes I could understand but while driving down the road I wonder.
It would be a cool test and the first company to do it and prove they give you colder air would come out way ahead you would think.
Plus do any of you carb guys remember doing the whole flipping the top of the air cleaner; I wonder how much hot air we sucked in then.
Ok sorry but I think the Volant is a very nice system and the people I know running it love it.

I used to flip over the lid on the air intake for my old cordoba. I read in hot rod magazine that they took an old 350, and changed the restrictive air intake to a open air element, and they gained 10 horsepower just from that. Not much more different then back what i was doing.

I am running a CAI brand intake and I love it. It comes fully insulated and looks great. A little expensive but if you have the means I highly suggest that you get one! I noticed a ~10HP increase on my car. Mileage is lower because my foot is in the gas more :-)

Does the Volant have a flexible hose or is it a plastic tube? I put a Volant on my 05 Duramax but it was solid and didn't allow flexing and also allowed minor dust inhalation. Not sure if it was just showing dust at the coupling or if it ingested dirt. Replaced with a CAI from Banks and much happier. But a Volant CAI for the GTO might be engineered better.
We do need to do something about hot soak though.

The intake tube is plastic. I used to have one, loved the sound it made. Got rid of it when I put the APS TT kit on the car.
I saw a 6rwhp difference with the Volant - same dyno, similar conditions.

Anyhone with an aftermarket intake
Sounds left field, but cover any intake tubing with a welders sleeve. I upped my mpg 2 mpg (digital readout doens't lie), and I drive it like I stole it and still get 15.7 mpg It really works and looks cool too. Its black with a red flame and red horse logo, fits perfectly from the throttle body to the air filter. $10 I think it cost me, my 2 cents
