Transmission or distributor problems?

Could somenoe please help shine some light on the subject? I have a 98 Chevy Z71 with 160K. I recently replaced the manifold gasket but forgot to mark the distributor when I took it off (however the service engine soon has yet to come on). Every since that gasket was replaced the truck shutters, especially in fourth gear on the highway. I took it to a transmission shop and they told me it was the torque converter trying to lockup. I believe the problem lies in the distributor, because I have never had a problem with the transmission. Could the distributor cause the torque converter to lockup? Is the PCM trying to compensate for the distributor being off?
