Rear End Noise

My 04 GTO only has about 53k on her. Noticed a howling sound coming from rear end at 41-43 mph some time ago..changed the rear end oil with Valvoline 75-140
with the friction modifier. It didn't help much then after 3 weeks it got just as noisy if not worse. What do you all think is wrong? Do you think trying some better/different brand gear oil would quite it? Its really loud.. thanks, Matt
