2004 CORVETTE z06 *demolished*

I was going 60 racing on the local highway out in kentucky. Some punk in a corvette pulls up reving at me. Honks 3 times and he floors it, I didn't even try the first time because it would have been a waste of my time since he caught me off guard. Second time around he slowed down, and did it again. This time i was ready, and sure enough i was a good car length ahead before we hit 110 and stopped. HAD NO CHANCE!

I keep my goat stock. I don't believe in any other modifications to a car, unless it's forced induction, or nitrous. I believe that if all the other stuff on the market worked as well as they say it does, then why would the factory not make it a stock item.

So, you beat a Z06 in a stock GTO?

Sounds like he missed a shift if you put one carlength on him from 60 to 110. Equal HP with the Vette weighing 300 to 400 pounds less than our GTO's means the Z06 is going to win, especially if your stock. I'm not doubting the outcome but sounds like the Z06 owner needs the driver mod.

Are you a M6 or an A4?

Lastly....

Rethink that for a minute and I'll be nice before some members jump down your throat on this one. Put on your flamesuit. The factory doesn't put aftermarket performance equipment on many models for 2 reasons. One, it is more expensive. Two they have a factory warantee to adhere to.

Do some research before you make inherently invalid points. Oh and welcome to the board.

I believe that a cold air intakes only suck in hot air, I'm sure hp gains do happen because of better flow, but I would rather keep the stock air box. Throttle body spacers are a load of garbage, unless someone can prove to me that they have seen increase hp output/ better fuel economy, I do not trust them. Exhaust wise i believe headers are a very good addition, but i would rather keep the gto sounding the way it does, pisses off the neighbors to have loud pipes. I figured that when i was asked whether or not my gto was modded that the person was asking about cheap bolt ons (i.e. cai, exhaust types of things).
Would love some form of forced induction in the near future. Please don't jump down my throat for my opinions. I still believe that certain aftermarket parts are fine, just not the ones that jegs/summit can offer me (catback exhaust, GO ALL THE WAY IF YOUR GOING TO BOLT THAT CRAP ON). Sorry guys

Now you're on track. A freer flowing intake track leads you to greater gains from future mods on down the road.

I tend to agree with you on this one.

Ditto

Ehhh, screw 'em.

A nice heads and cam combo with a proper tune and supporting mods can get you VERY nice gains on the LS2. So can FI but basically your wallet will dictate your mods.

i agree with you on all that, straight pipes sound wicked if only they let that here in cali. the most i think is worth investing would be a camshaft and ported cylinder heads, but i come to realize from where i'm at that i don't really need any more power. i'm getting to school in less then 15 mins the way i am, out doing the jokers with minimal effort, defintly though a good suspension upgrade and brakes are in the future.

btw they claim a CAI will draw cool air if its mounted toward the bottom closest to the road, as heat rises up

Unfortunatly wallet dictates everything. I do agree that getting a cam, and some head porting would be crazy fun. I can sense the goat's future will be decent.

By the way, california sounds like a sad place for hot rodders, here in kentucky, WE DONT GOTS NO EMISSIONS. Ha, no emission testing at all, I see people driving around with nothing but headers and simple piping to send the exhaust out the side of their cars.

I was arrested for smuggling books into Kentucky once....but the charges were dropped because no one could prove they were books.
