Do you have a LS1 or LS2 GTO?

Just a thought but you could probably do a a nice built 408 or something in that neighborhood for less money than swapping in a high priced LS7 engine and having to deal with the dry sump issues. I'm no expert by any means but if you are on a budget you could go this route. Now if money is no object then by all means a 7.0 liter LS7 sounds sexy. I'll let some others put their 2 cents in as well.

What type of budget are you working with?

You don't need to worry about the LS7 dry sump unless you want it. Standard LS crank removes the dry sump length. Do you want an easy 4.125 bore, LS7 headflow or both. I put a LS7 block/L92 head in my gto. Baby cam makes 490/480 rw with a unlocked 3600 stall.

A good question that deserves a better answer than I'll give. I have to reference some material I have and get back on that one. A crate LS7 runs somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 to 18 K if memory serves me correct.

I could build a LS7 427 for half that.

Awesome, let the OP know, maybe he'll require your services. Give us some details though.
