Is it really worth it?

I got the money for the SLP headers...I don't have the money for the catback. Maybe that 370$ Pacesetter catback but that just sounds to cheap to be any good. Should I save up and get a full catbcak or will a pair of Super 44's effectively do the job? I mean your paying for all that tubing that nobody will see. I guess the most important thing is the sound, will it sound as badass as a full catback?

Agreed.

Maybe I'm just being cheap. What about this...will the Spintech axleback setup work with the stock x-section?

Seems a good way to go for me.

I wonder what the hp/tq difference really is between the stock x-section and an after market one?
Oh yeah one more thing...is the stock exhaust 2.5in. in diameter?

If memory serves correct 04's are 2.25 and 05/06's are 2.5.

Stock GTO's (all years) don't have an X-pipe. I can't see an X-pipe giving any more than 3 to 5 HP tops, if that.

Interesting

So what is that box thing in the middle under the shifter boot that made me wanna punch holes in the wall because it kept me from moving my wrench more than a 32nd of an inch at a time when I was putting in my short throw?

The resonator. That's what you replace with an X/H pipe.

cnc beat me to it. I've seen a pic of the 05/06 resonator cut away and it's basically two perforated pipes running through the fiberglass??? packed resonator.

I finally pulled the trigger.

I just bought a set of Kooks inch and 7/8 headers in the sterling/jet coating and the brand new never before sold( from what I was told) Kooks Afterburner axle back exhaust. I'm just going to run with the stock midsection for now and worry about an x-pipe for later.
If you guys want I'll post about the install/fitment and try to get a sound clip for ya.
A couple more things...can you pay SLP after you have bought a Diablo tuner for that 455 Bobcat tune as a download?
Are the benefits of having it dyno tuned(the place I was going to go said that they would just use my tuner anyway) out weigh the cost difference between the seventy bucks or whatever it costs for that Bobcat tune?
