Cts-v

Has anyone seen one yet? I was at a light and a pipped out black one rolls up next to me. I saw the "V" on the front 1/4 panel and I thought, what is this? So I'm thinking "game time", but he slowly rolls thoughs through the red light??? The guy behind him rolls up to the light and we give each other the whats up with that guy look? The light changes and I notice at the next light the Caddie stops and for good reason, johnny law was at the intersection turning the same direction as him. Me and the fella from the last stop light look at each and start to laugh. Well I thought at least pull up and get a better look at her, but again, before I get up to him, he slowly rolls through the red light, with the police car only a few blocks down the road??!! Whats up with this guy, above the law? The patrol car never noticed. He pulls in to a small store and as I drive by he points to me and says something to his better half next to him. I swing back around to get another look and they are walking back to their car, I throw him a rev. and smiles and waves. I was thinking of hanging back see if he wanted to play, but in the rearview mirror is the patrol car coming up from behind and follows me back into downtown, oh mess with me but not the guy in the caddie, runnin red lights! Later, I looked up the CTS-V,, nice car, same LS2, w/power, RWD, but weighs few pounds more. Might have been some fun. Also I might add, cost about 20ish K more than ours.

As far as the CTS-V is concerned, the engine depends on the year. My sister has one, but not with the LS2. Instead, she is sporting the LS6 (400 Hp). I am not 100% sure, but I believe that you can only get these cars with a 6-speed manual transmission. It is a nice car, believe me. However, when my sister took me for a ride, my SOTP dyno was not overly impressed as I watched her take it up to 6,000 RPM. Don't get me wrong. The car got up to speed nicely, but it did not feel as if I were going to be thrown into the back seat. This may because my sister did not stomp on the loud pedal like I would have. When I took my sister for a ride in the goat (post Jeremy Formato tune), all she said was, "Holy crap!" Obviously my car is not quite stock, but I am not that far away from it. My sister has a Borla catback and some form of a CAI. She may even have a canned tune, but she is not sporting long tube headers. Also, she has had the rearend, rear tires, and stock rearend bushings replaced already (warranty work). I think that she has also added some sort of brace, available for the CTS-V, to help mitigate issues with wheel hop. If I were in the market for a luxury sedan, and money was no object, I would definitely consider the Caddie. If the Charger and CTS-V were comparably priced, I think that I would go with the CTS-V.

All in all, it would have been cool to read the results of a GTO vs CTS-V matchup should the CTS-V have wanted to play, Frorocks. I think that it would have been a good race.

Seen lots of CTS-V

Now what I am really interested in is a STS-V -- that would pull my attention!

I've seen a few CTS-v's. I really like them, especially in the crimson color. The big rumor lately is that the upcoming, redesigned CTS-v will be sporting the 505-horse LS7.

They are big, and probaly have worse wheel hop issues than our car.

True, but there is a TSB out that indicates the dealer should replace various bushings in the rear suspension with bushings that are stiffer than stock and is supposed to mitigate issues associated with wheel hop. I know this because my brother-in-law had this done to my sisters car. He has also had to have the rearend replaced because of a roar from the differential. Some of the modifications made to the CTS-V at this point are: BMR Pinion Support Brace, Borla Catback, some form of CAI, and a tune by some hand-held tuner. BTW: My sister has an '05 CTS-V with the 400 Hp LS6.

Edit: Below is a repeat of the information I conveyed on 09/17/06. Opps!
Overall, the car is nice, but I think that I can take it. I was not that impressed with the performance when my sister took me for a ride. She probably was not driving it like Mechanic58 would drive it. It was quick, but it just did not snap my head back like my goat did to me when I was riding shotgun after a dyno tune. When I took my sister for a ride in my car, her comment was, "Holy crap!"

Either way, the CTS-V is a nice car, but a little more expensive than I would like. It is a little too refined for my tastes. I definitely prefer something a bit nastier.

For talking purposes, it the GTO, CTS-V, and Charger SRT8 were all priced exactly the same, I would still choose the GTO...and this is coming from a guy who owned a Mitsubishi Eclipse before purchasing the GTO. The point I am trying to make it that, in the past, I have not been brand loyal. I do not simply buy a car because of its make or model. However, after owning my GTO for nearly 11 months, this may very well change.

And on that note the New Camaro is "supposed" to be built along the same lines as the New Age GTO - which means the new Camaro (and hopfully an Arrow Head Coupe) will be better than the current GTO.

GM is going in the correct direction -- you watch! They will be the force to recon with again in the 2010 era!

You do not know how many times I have heard this...especially when someone saw me pry myself from the car.
