I want to order the 05 hood for my GTO. Has anyone done this yet? How much did you pay and what were your painting costs? Let me know as I want to order it this month or early next month. I have a Pulse Red so I don't know if this would increase painting costs?

Yeah I would eventually like to do that. I might call around the local dealers here and see if they know anything.

DANG! they quoted me $730 for the hood with scoops and I also got a paint estimate at $ 700. Isn't that a little high for a paint job? I know I'm getting a discount on the hood, but for the paint job I might as well try to trade in my 04 for the 05 GTO.

We've got two 05 hoods in stock. Complete with scoops, baffles, underhood felt and hardware. Shoot us a call with your zip and we'll get a shipping estimate.

$730!!! Don't even think about it. IMO I would MUCH rather buy a certain V-Crest hood (functional ram air) for $595. By the time you pay for shipping you'd still be under the 730 mark and have a bit more performance to boot!

Painting a hood shouldn't cost more than around $300. $700 is absurd!

$300 sounds a little low for a quality paint job on an 05 hood. Keep in mind the underside needs to be painted and most likely you'll have them remove your 04 hood and install the new one. You probably don't want to have it painted and have to transport it risking damage to the hood so just have them do it. That way they'll need to make it fit perfect or keep taking it back to them.....

I am getting mine done for $420 which is the lowest I could find from a quality body shop....

I got my 2005 factory hood off ebay for $600, and got a shop to beautifully paint it for $250 (friend of a friend price). Looks Great!

You guys need to look into the SAP retro kit for the 04 GTO. Includes a complete 05 hood, Autocross spoiler and new recessed grills. Price is anywhere from $500 to $800 depending on dealer. I got mine for $699 plus $495 for paint and installation.

check with your local dealer , i just picked up the 04 sap kit with includes the 05 hood , autocross grilles , and the autocross spoiler for $ 750.00 + tax , and he had it there in 3 hrs. there is a deal going on thru another site from fred bean pontiac for $599.99 +shipping which is a super great deal if you live close enough that the shipping cost doesn't kill you ! for me it would have been about the same as my local dealer cost when you added in shipping , plus any problems ,i wouldn't have to reship. you cannot get a better deal than going with the kit ,but they are limited so when they are all gone , there all gone ! gary

Aparently a couple of our local Monaro club's members here in OZ have done the V2=2004 bonnet=hood to VZ=2005 GTO swap and it cost $700 AU=$550US for the new ones - they had red cars so the same colour was available but don't know if they were unpainted at that price. They said the swap wasn't totally easy but I don't know the details; can enquire if you wish to know more.
Cheers,
Bryan

The new 05 hood looks nice, but is it fully functional? I looked at one the other day and it didn't appear to be. The scoops open into the engine compartment, but don't connect to anything else.

Someone has an aftermarket hood with fully functional hood scoops that actually looked really good. They had it on 04 GTO.

I currently have a ram air intake in R/D. I all ready have a number of dealerships and an aftermarket company in Detroit that are looking at selling my product. Hopefully I can get it produced in the next month. B)
