rumored 5.0 engine from ford

read on GMinside news that the 2010 mustang may be returning the 5.0 block except DOHC with direct injection supposable making 400 HP and torque while saving more gas then the 4.6 it has now. however the GT mustang will be weighing at 3800 pounds, if memory serves me correct don't our goats weight the same but because we have a wide GT platform to back it up? seems like the mustangs are working backwards and defeating the purpose of the "pony" car

You know who wrote this. I laughed so hard, I had to share.

I think we will be lucky if the Camaro is even close to 3800 lbs. I'm not a Ford fan by any stretch of the imagination, but if they can pull off a 400 horse 3800 pound Mustang below $30k then they will walk over the Camaro and the Challenger in sales. (It will like the 90's all over again ... GM winning at the dragstrip ... Ford winning at the dealership.)

Everything I have seen points to the Camaro being much closer to 4000 lbs.

exactly what i mean, and seeing that these mustang is coming up to 3800 which is what the GT-500 is at, that isn't so much bragging rights especially compared to our goats that have the weight for handling

The GT500 is up around 4K actually, a little less for the coupe if I remember correctly.

The standard GT is around 3300 LBS, so they must be adding in some more things, I expect the new 5.0 to be faster though simply because even at 3800 LBS the HP/LBS ratio is better, and the fact that the GTO is faster than a GT stang.

Not a good idea, it would probably leak.

True, but that goes for vehicles across the board in the US.

well yea of course but were talking in general of what a mustang is suppose to be, onbviously a smaller car and lighter and here they are bumping out more HP and torque with a car that is some how getting heavier with no real gain from it
