my parts list question

ok so ive been posting around other gto and ls1 sites trying to get a feel for a decent set up for my goat. its an 04 with the 6spd. im deployed right now and wanting to finally add some power. ive been ponering the heads and cam and came up with:

patriot 243 64cc heads
cometic .040 head gaskets
7.4 patriot hardened push rods
kooks LT's
new timing set
arp head bolts
85mm TB
160* thermostat

but still trying to figure out what cam grind to go with,im wanting that lopey idle with gains across the board while keeping decent driveability. and with the new found airflow in the heads what injectors to go with.

also will the factory rockers work with this set up or would i need to get an aftermarket set and if so which ones would be the best for my set up

I'm slowly putting together all the stuff for a cam swap. I'll add some of the smaller things I've been amassing as well.

crank bolt
water pump gaskets
valve cover gaskets
timing cover gasket
new belts (I've got 64K miles and they will be off anyway w/the swap)
SLP high flow oil pump w/ o-ring gasket
valve locks/keepers
valve seals
Comp 918 valve springs
retainers

Since you are doing heads as well you may want new lifters w/trays or the link-bar lifters that are out there. Might as well do new spark plugs as well.

With all that new stuff new rockers would be a good idea as well.

I'm sure I've forgotten other stuff, I'm still slowly putting together my list. Good luck in putting it all together and stay safe over there.

if i stick with stock 243 what all is needed to install a cam.just springs and pushrods. and i can reuse the seals and retainers. if all is needed to be replaced then buying a build head would be a better route

What's the mileage on your GTO? I'm doing a lot of these little things because I'm at 7 years and 64,5XX miles right now. Crank bolt, timing cover gasket and water pump gaskets are pretty cheap. Does it have 243 or 241 heads on it now?

its still stock ls1 with 90k. wish it had less but a few trips from ohio to camp lejeune and back added a bit. but shes savign mileage now with me being deployed.im just trying to figure out what route to go. either dunp the money for patriots or spend 400 for stock 243 with 20k on them and build them up. but i feel it would be easier jsut to get patriots now.

I would suggest contacting BRMike via a PM. He has had very good success with CAI, FAST92 intake, and cam. I am sure he would be happy to tell you what he did.

well i will most likely be switching the k&n out for a svede OTRCAI, keeping the ls6 mani on the goat. but for money wise i think im goin to get a set of stock 243 right now and add springs, retainers too, then throw in a set of hardened pushrods. and for my cam i will probably go with the torquer v2. and throw a pair of kooks LT and possibly an 85mm Tb. then see where that gets me on the dyno

The Svede Speed OTRCAI made a big difference for me. What I suspect is that the more air you need, the more benefit from the SS OTRCAI.
