As if you needed another reason to hate Car and Driver
Link
Taken from the Solstice GXP/Porsche Boxter Comparison....
"On the other hand, the Solstice covered up mistakes with its torquey turbo and clawed its way to a 1:42.25 lap time, beating the Boxster by 1.40 seconds."
Yet they prefered the Porsche....
"What about the huge price difference, you say? Yes, the Boxster starts at $45,795, and the Solstice costs just $25,995, but keep in mind that with its two trunks and more spacious ****pit, the Boxster is a reasonable daily driver, whereas the Solstice is purely a toy. Then consider that our man Dokianakis bought his $53,935 Boxster with just 4000 miles on the clock for 35 grand. In other words, forgo some of that new-car smell, and the superior and more practical Boxster can almost be had on a Solstice GXP budget."
Appearntly because we can afford a $25,995 Solstice, we can easily plop down another 10 grand for a used Boxter, and not to mention its more expensive german upkeep, and 100 dollar oil changes.

That alone keeps me away from Porche products.

It is stuff like this that has altered my magazine subscriptions to the likes of High Performance Pontiac and GM High Tech Performance. Besides, these magazines have the articles I am interested in reading. I mean, why would I want to read about the battle of the latest mini-vans or hybrids? Perhaps it is just a bad attitude, but I jut don't care about that kind of stuff.

You sound exactly like me. I've dropped Car and Whiner, Road and Track and Motor Trend within the last 3 years. I've also just subscribed to GM High Tech Performance as well as current subs to Pontiac Enthusiast and High Performance Pontiac.
I think the big auto rags just pander to the company who pays the most for advertising anyway. I won't give Car and Whiner one red cent until that dried up fossil Yates and the rest of the toadies there leave and they take a new direction that is less anti-GM. I just want fairness, not bias.

I could not agree more. I am an automobile enthusiast (not as big of one as BRMike) who wants unbiased information. A good example of misinformation at its finest is associated with the '04-'06 Pontiac GTO. I suspect that much of what is published in the big name magazines is why Mustang GT owners think they are up to challenging the performance of the GTO.
