Now before this gets out of hand I'll say the usual stuff:

NewAgeGTO does not condone extreme highway speeds. Follow your local vehicle laws.

This poll is for fun, be truthful. Please keep it to 04 and 05 GTO's. No other votes in the poll please although if you'd like to post a top speed in another vehicle just post in this thread.

I admit it, I'm a wuss. Only been up to third gear, a little over 90. Not affraid of the speed, just the ticket. I haven't had a speeding ticket sence '92. I guess I figure , once I start getting them, they will have me in there sites. I haven't seen any other GTO's in my area, so I feel I stand out, and I do notice the cops, noticing me.

You need to move out west. I drove through Utah and CO over the weekend, and if you were doing 80 you were passed by grannies in Buicks. Part of the reason I don't have a Goat is because I'd be too tempted to try that 150mph blast.

Has anyone ever driven on the Bonneville Salt Flats? I didn't realize that with minimal safety equipment anyone can take a run there. That would be cool.

Just keep it under 161mph!

honkinunit is right we have some great roads out here for speed. Just be careful around Denver. If they catch you speeding they almost always write you a ticket (99.9% of the time).

Only major downside is that SUV's like to drive 90+mph out here, and they will kill you!

Running through the mountains is great; just remember our motto "real men don't need guardrails". There are many times up in the mountains where you really do put your life in the hands of your tires. But it is truly wonderful to sweep around a mountain corner at 12,000 feet and see nothing but the road and the mountains around you. :woot: :woot: :woot:

I **** near wet myself when I hit 109 mph in the onramp merge lane - Not because of the speed, but because the SEMI I was merging in front of wasn't getting any smaller in my rearview! :friday:

Not very many straightaways here in upstate SC to test the upper limits and Barney Fife's patience, so I've only had my 05 up to 100, just to see what rpm's it would turn in 6th (~2600). Seems as I've gotten older verifying factory claimed top speeds is less of an issue than before....

145 here. The 'ol '04 handled great. My Passenger was about to have a breakdown though!

It is a little scary taking it up that high though.

135 mph racing a Cobra SVT. Would like to add that he was fully modified out with headers, exhaust, twin turbo, no cat, etc… but he couldn’t pass me until he hit the juice. By the way the roads here in west Texas are nice for such driving.

115 heading uphill towards a summit, racing a Subaru. A state cop pulled us both over and gave us warnings! So lucky, I know it was because he want to BS about my 05 GTO....

As fast as she would let me. I didnt pay attention to the gauge but I before I let off I looked down and it was at 156. Its scary how easy the car is at that speed.

I was driving on a toll way in northern Illinois, heading towards chicago. I looked down and noticed I was going 105. I then got this feeling to punch it. I got up to 126 and my 19" wheels started to make the car shake. That was as fast as I got it up to. I hope that I don't get that feeling to punch it that often.

Sorry to hear about the shaking with the 19’s. It seems to me that the faster I go the more stable and smooth she rides. 100 mph doesn’t even seem like 100 mph when in the goat. I’ve done 80 mph in other vehicles and feared for my life….
