7 rules to rent a motorbike in Vietnam

Travel by motorbikes is a featured of Vietnam. It draws travelers who not only come from Vietnam but also many countries in the world. However, many travelers still donít know how to rent a motorbike in Vietnam. So, we give you some rules, what you need to know to rent motorbikes in Vietnam.

1. Prepare driving license

Owning a driver's license is proof that you have been trained to operate a motorcycle and understand traffic laws in Vietnam. This is a legal basis to prove you are capable of participating in traffics and responsible for incidents and accidents that occur during traffic.
If you want to use a motorbike for your trip, you need to take the exam to get a driver's license in Vietnam or a driving license in your country and an international driving license recognized by Vietnam. There are a number of driving licenses not recognized by Vietnam you need to find out carefully.

2. Buy travel insurance

Travel insurance is necessary paperwork for travelers when travelling anywhere. During your trip, if anything goes wrong like your flight is cancelled, your luggage is lost, you need medical assistance, etc... The insurance agent will be responsible to support your problem.

3. Determine the rental period

If you are sure of your identity documents, the next thing you need to do is determine when you rent the car. Most tourists are quite fond of travelling, visiting the natural landscape of the city as well as the surrounding area if you intend to drive for a long period of 1.2 days, you should inform the car rental point in advance. They grasp the situation as well as arrange the type of vehicle with strong operating capacity, suitable for long distances.

4. Contact in advance to reserve a car

After selecting the date and car rental company that suits your wishes, you should contact to reserve the car. Booking cars early will make you more proactive in the journey, so that you can plan a specific visit to each location, making the trip more meaningful.

5. Prepare necessary documents when renting a car

Often car rental locations will require customers to leave identity card or driver's license to do the news. Ideally, you should leave your ID card or driver's license behind. If you leave your driver's license, there is a problem while on the road and the traffic police ask you to show it will be very annoying.
If travelling alone, you should have 3 types of documents, driver's license, passport and identity card ready. Please negotiate with the car rental point and leave notarized photo papers or have them compare with the original. The original documents you will still need to use when joining the road or renting a hotel...

6. Check vehicle quality

You need to remember things like handbrake, foot brake, parking, turn signals, horn, lights, engine and mirrors. Before accepting the car, you should ask the owner to let him run a few rounds to see if the car has a problem.

In addition, negotiate with the owner in advance that if the vehicle has a problem, you are entitled to change another car and in the event that there is no other vehicle available, the owner must refund you.

7. Receipt

A final but very important note when booking a car is to store the receipt carefully. Many points for car rental are quite simple. You only need to leave your ID to rent a car. However, you should ask them to write a clear receipt with the information: Rental date and return a bike, license plate number, the type of documents they keep yours. All information is clearly written on "black and white paper" will help minimize unnecessary conflicts and arguments.
The above guidelines are the basic things that you should know so as not to have trouble during the process of renting a car as well as your trip.
Hope this information will be helpful to you. Wish you have a happy trip.
