Hello there!

Good day!

I'm new to this site, but certainly not new to forums. A couple thousand posts on sportbike and dirtbike forums. And about a hundred on an Isuzu forum. (2007 Yamaha WR450F and 1989 Isuzu Amigo.)

The new GTO has interested me from day one, but not at all because of the name. I just dig rear wheel drive cars with more horsepower than they need. And since I am married with kids, the GTO seems like a good choice. Well, better than the '96 Corvette LT4 I was saving for...

I'm not a GM loyalist. I really like the Mustang GT as well, but not as good passenger accomodations. And you can't swing a dead cat without hitting one...

Truth be told, I have much more faith in a Toyota or a Honda than a Chevy or a Ford, though it pains me to say it. I've owned a few Fords and had problems with all of them. I've owned several Hondas and Toyotas with lots of trouble free miles. None of them had any soul though...

I've only driven a GTO in a small parking lot, but the interior REALLY impressed me! Oh, and the sound of the engine... Yum!

So, I'm sure every question I would have initially has already been answered here somewhere, so I will search around a bit. I've been reading reviews and stuff. So far the complaints I am hearing are mostly about styling, trunk space and entry to the rear seats. Non-issues to me, for the most part.

The only thing that worries me initally is the possible problem with some of the front struts on a few cars. I need to look into that on the site.

I'm not sure if or when I will end up owning one of these new age muscle cars. The bug just bit me yesterday while I was bored at work, and started chasing links on YouTube...

I saw that British arsebag from Top Gear review the Holden. Then I started looking at prices for used units.... Hmmmm...

I was surprised he actually liked the car. I just liked all the sideways driving and the smoke. Yes, I am 37 years old with a wife, kids and a good job. So what? I still think with my little head sometimes...

Anyway, here's hoping I can learn a lot, and maybe end up bringing one of these home one day.

Take care!

Ahhh...nooo! Don't look at the wrecked GTO's. That can ruin even the best of days.

Welcome aboard! Ever since I pulled the trigger I've been all SMILES , but then again I've had a total of 3 GTOs in my short life time. I'm alittle bias!

I've seen photos of the blue on blue. That is pretty sharp!

Different enough to spark interest, but not so over the top that it makes you gag. I would own that combo, no problem!

But I have always dug yellow cars for some reason, so yellow/black is probably my first choice. The GTO I drove in a small circle was yellow. It was hard not to take flight while I had the chance!

I don't think there are any "bad" combos on this car though. Purple would be my last choice, but I still would not hesitate to purchase one if it was a good deal.

This is a great site, and I'm learning a lot!

Firstly welcome to the board.

Secondly, Purple was a 2004 only color, so unless you buy used then don't worry about it.

Thirdly, buy it, you won't regret it.

I'll def. be looking for used. Like I said, I just started looking... And I have set a goal of saving $10,000 cash to put down on a car that I hope to pay about 17-22K for.

I have a 'real job' as a video producer for a major cable corporation that pays the bills, but I also do freelance video production, and the fun money comes from that.

I just bought my Amigo and my Yamaha for cash, (about ten grand... D'oh!) and now I owe my wife and kids a trip to Disney World.

So it could be a month, it could be a year.... Anybody need a video produced? Heh heh heh....

I think I would like to be in an '05 or '06, but we'll see how the market looks when I'm walking around with the cash. I know it seems trivial, but the lack of a 'dead pedal' on the '04 is actually a big deal for me.

I read a post where you guys are talking about how few GTOs you see. And while there are certanily not packs of them rolling down the streets in Colorado, I have seen more than a few between Pueblo and Colorado Springs. Just saw a red '06 today on my way home from work.

Any-who... Thanks for the warm welcome, and I will continue to add GTO wrinkles to my brain!

Seems like the owners of blue cars are well represented in this thread!
